“Hong Kong Garden” documents a city that is in an aftermath state: post-social unrest, post-pandemic, and in the throes of recovery. Tsang has captured images from 2019-2024, primarily of plants and the city, embracing the themes of nature and control. As Tsang observes the ever-changing city, he is contemplating how eastern and western perspectives impact the way we see his home city, and questions which of these views provide answers to a better future. The book is sequenced in both directions, conforming to English and Chinese reading practices.
